Effect of Wet Deposition on Secondary Inorganic Aerosols Using an Urban-Scale Air Quality Model

We investigated the effects of wet deposition on secondary inorganic aerosols (SIAs) in urban areas by coupling module with three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics atmospheric chemistry model (CFD-Chem). developed a for microscale improving global modeling initiative scheme. evaluated comparing it to observed washout ratio from total deposition. The simulated calculated using scavenging coefficient (WSC) based theoretical calculation is six times lower than that observed, suggesting amount SIAs below-cloud might be underestimated. When we applied WSC field measurements, was much improved; however, slightly overestimated compared rate. Therefore, estimated optimal area linear regression approach. conducted megacity understand SIA concentration WSCs. results indicate processes decrease surface aerosol concentration, showing reductions average concentrations were 7.1% 11.2%. simulation suggest can reduce particulate matter areas, indicating should considered model, although domain only simulate processes.
